Dean's Message

Welcome to the Faculty of Arts. The Faculty of Arts comprises 20 departments and 13 interdisciplinary programs with a strong and lengthy history of research success and teaching innovation at the University of Calgary.

Faculty of Arts disciplinary and inter-disciplinary scholarship and teaching form the foundational core of traditional university education and are intrinsically valuable to individuals and societies as a mechanism for creating new meaning and understanding of past and future events and circumstances. As such, the Faculty of Arts plays a critical role in defining the University as an institution that leads societal progress and the development of new ideas. We are committed to providing the highest quality programs of study for our undergraduate and graduate students, programs that will prepare them to be the leaders and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
