University of Calgary Announces the WRC Awards 2012 Recipients presented by the Women’s Resource Centre

WRC Distinguished Alumna 2012 Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla:  With 17 years of experience, Jenny is the President of her own immigration consulting firm.  A member of the International Bar Association, with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from The University of Calgary (1991), and a Juris Doctor degree in Law from California, Jenny is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant recognized by the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Governments of Canada.  Jenny serves as the First Vice President at the Business & Professional Women's Club of Calgary where core programs, namely scholarships and mentorship, are steered to improve the economic, employment and social conditions of women. WRC Distinguished Student 2012 Ola Mohajer:  Ola has been a student leader since her first year on campus while concurrently studying for her BSc and a BA.  She currently serves as Students’ Union Vice President Academic where she unfailingly represents over 25,000 undergraduate students. In her academics, Ola has been involved in biochemistry research on metabolism where her work has been implemented into a curriculum that affects all students in Biological Science. Within the Calgary community, she gives public educational talks on human rights, youth engagement, and Islam. Through her wisdom, resilience, compassion and leadership, she has inspired many women around her and empowered them to pursue their passions within leadership, education and beyond. The WRC Awards of Excellence Celebrating Women’s Wisdom, Resilience and Compassion are presented by the University of Calgary’s Women’s Resource Centre to an outstanding female alumna and student who have:

  • Achieved professional and/or academic excellence - Wisdom;
  • Overcome barriers and trailblaze for women - Resilience;
  • Made an outstanding contribution to the community and shown a demonstrated commitment to advancing women’s issues - Compassion.
