Lawna Hurl appointed to UCalgary Board of Governors

Government of Alberta appoints alumna with diverse legal and community volunteer experience

The Government of Alberta has appointed Lawna Hurl to the University of Calgary’s Board of Governors.

Hurl is a senior legal counsel at RockPoint Gas Storage and a dedicated volunteer who generously offers her time to several professional and community organizations. She currently serves on the board of the Calgary Women’s Centre and previously served as a board member for the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, Calgary Legal Guidance as well as her local community association. She has extensive volunteer experience with the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Folk Festival. Hurl is the recipient of the Up and Comer Award from the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association and was recognized as one of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine. She graduated with a BA from the University of Alberta, an MA'98 from the University of Calgary, and a B.C.L. /L.L.B. from McGill University.

"Her experience as an alumna, a lawyer, a volunteer and a board member with a wide range of professional and community organizations will be a tremendous asset to the university."

Hurl becomes one of nine public representatives who voluntarily serve on the UCalgary Board.
