Frequently Asked Questions
1. What if I cannot see the application when I login to CareerLink and choose the Faculty of Arts? If this occurs, please write email@example.com. We will investigate and provide you with access to the application if you have a declared major with a Co-op option in the Faculty of Arts
2. What format should my resume be for uploading to the CareerLink Arts Co-op application? While it is expected that once you are accepted into the program (if eligible), your resume would be reviewed by a coordinator for feedback, prospective students may refer to samples provided by Career Services as a guide for resumes. Click here for samples and templates. It is not necessary that your resume be submitted in this format but it should provide the program with an overview of your work and volunteer experience.
3. What type of sequence should be submitted with my application? Please submit a plan of each semester of your degree including three co-op work terms. This will extend your degree by approximately one year. At least one term should be planned for winter or fall. Your first expected work term would be May or Sept of the following year (in most cases). Please ensure that your work terms alternate with academic semesters and your plan includes a final study semester (3 half courses). Your plan may include two terms back to back, but we do not recommend 3 terms back to back. Once you are in the program, there is flexibility with your plan, as required. A sample of one plan is provided here:

4. The arts co-op application requires that you submit 2 or 3 paragraphs about your interest in the program. We recommend this be written to resemble a professional cover letter (though it is not necessary to include the address section often included in cover letters). Refer to the above-mentioned link in the Career Services lib guide for examples of cover letters. Please ensure the letter contains no typos and is professional in tone. Include details of why you are interested in the program and how it fits with your goals.
The co-op education office is located in the Arts Students' Centre, on the first floor of the Social Sciences building.
