Camrose pianist Roger Admiral joins forces with the Edmonton Saxophone Quartet for a performance that sits at the thrilling intersection of funk, jazz, and classical mastery.

CARTER JOHNSON

Celebrated for his warm stage presence, compelling musical personality, and cutting-edge programming, Canadian pianist Carter Johnson is known for making classical music speak to all kinds of audiences. With playing described as “sincere, communicative, and intelligent”, “drop-dead gorgeous”, and even “the greatest thing since sliced bread” (Gramophone), Johnson returns to Calgary as the recent Silver Medalist in the 2025 Honens International Piano Competition.

E-GRE WINNER'S TOUR

2026 marks the 49th Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition (E-Gré), this year in Voice with this concert featuring Aemilia Moser, the recent 2026 winner as part of their cross-country tour. The E-Gré Competition began in 1976 and is the most important annual Canadian and contemporary music competition.

Four extraordinary musicians perform solo concerto movements with the Orchestra, with the support of RBC.

Alexander Carpenter, author and editor of the upcoming Routledge book on Arnold Schoenberg's Fünf Klavierstücke Op. 23, will speak about the aesthetic context of Schoenberg and the time of this composition. University of Alberta colleagues pianist Roger Admiral and violinist Guillaume Tardif will perform music of Schoenberg, Alban Berg, and Anton von Webern.
