Restoring Trust in Canada's Institutions: A presentation and discussion with Jim Dinning

Date & Time:
February 2, 2016 | 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Location:
Alberta Room, Dining Centre, University of Calgary

Good governance in our parliamentary system matters deeply to Canadians, perhaps now more than ever.  The office of the prime minister and premiers’ office have come to exert an unprecedented degree of power over the legislative branch of government and the public service, and the need for real-time responses to unfolding events, reinforced by the media and Internet, has led to a concentration of power.

Join The School of Public Policy and the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary to hear from two eminent Canadians to provide commentary on their recommendations to reboot these institutions of government.  Jim Dinning and Kevin Lynch will present their 9 Ways to Restore Trust, and a panel discussion and opportunity to ask questions will follow.

About our speakers:

Jim Dinning is a former Treasurer of the Province of Alberta and is currently Chairman of the Board for Western Financial Group. Kevin Lynch is a former Clerk of the Privy Council and is currently Vice Chair of BMO Financial Group.
