Do you have a great photo you've taken on campus? We'd love to feature it as the Photo of the Week.

  1. Use your smart phone, a camera, a GoPro ... whatever you have handy at the time to take your picture.
  2. Tell us your name and give us a brief description of what's happening in your pic.
  3. Upload your photo using this form.
  4. Look for it to appear in the next issue of Arts Engage.

Helpful Tips:

  • Photos should be clear, good quality, have good lighting, be engaging and/or tell a story or an interesting point of view.
  • Photograph people from the front or side (try to avoid photographing the back of people's heads) in a group/event environment.
  • Photos should be a minimum of 1,000 pixels wide and no larger than 3,000 pixels wide
  • Horizontal orientation only please, (ie: wider than taller).
  • Photos must be campus and/or campus community related (taken on campus, at a university event, during a public event where the university community is representative).
  • Photos should be taken in public spaces (not inside classrooms or situations which may violate FOIP policies and procedures).
  • Please do not photograph minor children.

Do I need consent to take a photo?

  • If photos are taken of people in public spaces on campus, or attending/participating in a university-related public event (such as a graduation ceremony, sporting event or cultural program), it's not generally an unreasonable invasion of privacy.
  • If photos are to be taken during a private event (such as an invitation-only event) the university must announce that photos will be taken and direct individuals with concerns to someone who can address their questions. It's always best to approach individuals whose faces will be shown the photo and request to take their picture while explaining how it will be used. If an individual asks to be excluded from the photo, or use of photos taken, that request must be honoured.
  • Photography of an identifiable individual (e.g.: a head shot) that may be used for marketing or advertising purposes always requires written consent from the subject using the University Photo Release and Consent form. Photos appearing in Arts Engage will not be used for this purpose.
