Congratulations to Dr. Perri Tutelman, PhD, assistant professor in Transdisciplinary Digital Mental Health in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Tutelman has been honoured with the 2026 CIHR - Institute of Cancer Research & CAPO Early Career Investigator in Psychosocial Oncology Award. The award recognizes a new investigator for outstanding contributions to research in the field of psychosocial oncology.

Tutelman recently co-led a study aimed at advancing adolescent and young adult cancer research by elevating the voices of this often-overlooked population. Working closely with individuals with lived experience, the team developed a set of priorities to guide future research and funding efforts.

“I am humbled and honoured to receive the 2026 CIHR-CAPO Early Career Investigator Award in Psychosocial Oncology," says Tutelman. “I look forward to continuing to lead research that supports the needs and experiences of young people diagnosed with cancer, together with a dedicated team of colleagues, mentors, trainees, and people with lived experience, here at the University of Calgary.”

This recognition highlights Dr. Tutelman’s leadership and commitment to advancing patient-informed research in psychosocial oncology here at UCalgary and across Canada.
