Dr. Adrienne Kertzer has been appointed to the role of Special Advisor to the President on Women’s
Issues for a three year term, effective immediately.

Kertzer is a professor of English whose teaching and research interests
include representations of trauma, children's literature, Holocaust literature,
and women's writing.

A member of our community since 1976, Kertzer’s prior administrative
experience includes terms as head of the English Department, Associate Dean of
the Faculty of Humanities, and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies. In the latter
role, she chaired the faculty’s policy committee and led a major review of all
Graduate Studies policies and procedures. Past president of the Canadian Chairs
of English and Children’s Literature Association, she has a proven track record
as an administrator that will serve her well in her new role.

Kertzer’s first priority will be to review the current terms of reference by
engaging with various groups and individuals across campus to assess current
needs and challenges affecting women throughout the institution.
