UCalgary History graduate receives David Barclay book prize

Mikkel Dack has won a prestigious award for his first book

Mikkel Dack has won the David Barclay Book prize at the German Studies Association’s annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia for his recent publication, Everyday Denazification in Postwar Germany: The Fragebogen and Political Screening (Cambridge University Press, 2023).

Mikkel received his PhD from the University of Calgary in 2016 under the supervision of Dr. Annette Timm. He is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.

The David Barclay Book Prize is awarded annually by the German Studies Association for the best monograph on the social, cultural, economic, political, or labor history of nineteenth century and twentieth-century Germany or central Europe. This is the premier conference and scholarly organization for all historians, social scientists, literary, and humanities scholars who focus on the German-speaking lands, and the prize has no rank attached. It is an extremely prestigious award for a first book.

Congratulations, Mikkel!
