Need a signature? Curious about ethics approvals? Need to know a policy? Look no further.

Need faculty approvals on a grant application?

All external applications need faculty-level review and signature of the Associate Dean Research. Please allow two business days for ADR signature.


Research Management System (RMS)

Most major grant applications now go through the Research Management System, an online platform which replaces paper-based process of approvals. Follow these steps:

  • Ensure that the competition is running through the RMS (check the funding calendar entry for more information.
  • Complete RMS training
  • Create a record and upload your application. The system will automatically guide the application through the chain of approvals.

In person to the Dean's Office reception (Social Sciences 13th floor) or via email.

UCalgary has two research ethics boards, three animal care committees, and a biosafety committee. All research, funded or unfunded, involving humans, animals or biohazards must first be reviewed by and receive approval from the appropriate board or committee before research can begin.
