Graduate student Constantine X. Anastasakis directs Eugène Ionesco’s absurdist play Rhinoceros as his MFA in Drama thesis. By disrupting the central metaphor of Ionesco’s text, the production aims to foreground the momentum of social movements in response to Greece’s economic crisis, in particular with the resulting riots in Athens, reimagining the play’s unlikely protagonist as a symbol for complacency in a time of unrest and tumultuous change.
