What is South Asian Studies?

South Asian Studies offers a wide range of courses with content that encompasses the geographical area that includes:

  • India
  • Pakistan
  • Nepal
  • Bangladesh
  • Sri Lanka

The program option is designed to reflect the growing relevance of South Asia on a global scale. Students will find a selection of course options covering various areas of South Asia allowing both studies of classical
culture and contemporary issues across various academic disciplines. The minor/concentration option promotes a greater understanding of this geographic region. A common background is fostered within the Minor/Concentration option by the introductory and thematic course
offerings and students have the freedom in a wide selection of options to
design this aspect of their degree.
