MA Student Sam Kerr presents research on the Southern Alberta Pioneers

Sam Kerr presented his thesis research on the Southern Alberta Pioneers and their Descendants at York University’s New Frontiers 2020 conference from February 21 to February 23. As part of his panel presentation he discussed the formation of regional identity in southern Alberta from 1901-1929 in the context of the conference’s 2020 theme “Life in an Age of Extremes," particularly regional extremism and division. His research draws on primary evidence from the Southern Alberta Pioneers’ archives, the Glenbow Western Research centre, and local newspapers.
