Professor to lead SSHRC-funded research team

Professor David Wright is the lead investigator for a team looking at dispute resolution in modern treaty contexts.

David is the primary investigator on a SSHRC-funded research project looking at dispute resolution in modern treaty contexts, happening as a project under a larger $2.5 million SSHRC partnership grant looking at ways to improve implementation of modern treaties. The objective of this dispute resolution research project is to better understand the use and non-use of the dispute resolution mechanisms that are present in all modern land claims agreements. To date, this aspect of treaty implementation has received minimal scholarly attention despite calls for such research and a general awareness that existing mechanisms may not be for filling expected purposes.
