Haskayne Graduate Programs Open House promotes fast-track programs

In today’s ever-changing job market, having the right credentials and a transferable skillset can make all the difference to set yourself up to navigate unexpected career changes and make you stand out.
This year’s Graduate Programs Open House from the Haskayne School of Business on Feb. 22 offers students the chance to explore programs in depth, network with peers and industry professionals, and attend a mock case study.
“We designed Open House to be a fantastic teaser for our MBA and MMgmt (Master of Management) programs,” says Kaitlyn Byl, MBA and senior admissions and recruitment specialist at Haskayne, who will be hosting the event, with opening remarks by Dean Gina Grandy.

The annual Open House can be an eye-opening experience, says current Haskayne MBA student, Wengel Kebede, who says attending one inspired her to choose the University of Calgary over other schools for her MBA.

“Discovering how the program aligned with my values and goals, along with the offer to review my Mount Royal University transcripts for the Graduate Management Admission Test waiver, was appealing,” says Kebede.
Another past attendee and current MBA candidate, Andres Cristancho, says a past Open House allowed him to clarify the uncertainties he had regarding the Haskayne application process, timelines, course structure, specialization options and costs.
“I had the opportunity to meet with the former dean and the admissions team to go over my desire for pursuing an MBA while working,” he says. “These interpersonal engagements allowed me to better determine how the program could fit with my career path as a working professional. Being able to gain immediate clarity to my questions from the admissions team, professors and MBA graduates provided me with the right information I needed to make a final decision.”
