Biography
Kristian Belliveau is a graduate student in the history department, where he primarily studies Canadian Military History. He is working on a project to tell the stories and experiences of those in and around German Prisoner of War Camp 135 in the town of Wainwright, Alberta near the end of the Second World War. He hopes to analyze the social impacts of a POW Camp in an isolated Albertan town and discover the impacts of humane hospitality as set out by the Geneva Convention and how this shaped the many positive experiences of the prisoners, many of whom immigrated to Canada after the war as a result. Kristian is working with Dr. David B Marshall in the history department and hopes to see where his academic career will take him. He received a bachelor's degree in History and a bachelor's degree in Education, with a specialization in secondary social studies teaching, both at the University of Calgary.
