Artist statement

Individuals often view solitude as a negative state of mind as they associate it with loneliness. They choose to isolate themselves from their surroundings physically and mentally, allowing their negative thoughts to enclose them from everyone. However, solitude can also be a beautiful state of mind.

“Solitude” is a series based on the experiences that individuals have felt when isolated from others. The purpose of the series is to promote how solitude allows individuals to focus on their self-growth and care. In each work, the water-color brushstrokes depict the constant movement of reality: blurry and unfocused, whereas the photography reflects the solid and focused state of mind. In a way, rather than focusing on the chaotic reality, they can focus on what matters to them most and build themselves up, as the world will be consistently changing and shifting, whether they like it or not.
