Biography

Dr. Christine Leppard is an an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of History and the Manager, Exhibits and Experience, SAM Centre for the Calgary Stampede Foundation. Opening in 2024, SAM Centre will be a year-round experience showcasing the stories, artifacts and peoples of the Calgary Stampede and its historic role in shaping Calgary's community. In her role, Dr. Leppard is responsible for developing and implementing a participatory visitor experience for SAM Centre that includes engaging and accessible programming and exhibits. Previously, Dr. Leppard spent seven years as the Stampede Historical Specialist, spearheading the Stampede’s public history community engagement and managing the Stampede Collection & Archives. Dr. Leppard earned a PhD in Canadian and military history from the University of Calgary. She is also the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Heritage Calgary.
