Living Histories Journal: Call for Submissions Reminder for University of Calgary

Dear students and scholars,

I am pleased to announce that Living Histories: A Past Studies Journal is seeking submissions. This year will be our third publication, slated to be published in April of 2024! We are a historical publication with a unique mandate; to understand the present through the lens of the past, and connect historical change, events, or developments to the form of our world today.

Although we are a historical publication, we believe there is value in interdisciplinary forms of scholarship for connecting past to present. We encourage submissions that utilize solely historical writing but also encourage the submission of papers that synthesize historical inquiry with other forms of critical analysis. This could be psychological, sociological, economic, or truly any other type of effective analysis when combined with historical research.

General guidelines:

  • Formatted according to the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition.
  • ~3000 words*
  • Must make a strong connection between historical context or events and the form of our contemporary world.

This is an excellent opportunity to have your work featured in a university-level, peer-reviewed, and academic publication. The journal is produced by a team of undergraduate students at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and is sponsored and overseen by the Department of History.

Please view the attached graphic and our website which has important information about the submission process. To learn more about our guidelines and policies, please refer to our website at: https://ojs.library.queensu.ca/index.php/lhps

Submissions close February 2nd, 2024.
