Erin Sutherland recently joined the Department of Art and Art History as assistant professor, specializing in Indigenous contemporary art and curatorial practice. Prior to coming to the University of Calgary, Erin worked as an assistant professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus.

"I teach Indigenous and Contemporary Canadian Art, and my research is interested in Indigenous performance art and curatorial practice," says Erin.

She also works as an independent curator and is a core member of Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective in Edmonton, Alberta.

Erin is most looking forward to meeting new students/faculty/staff at UCalgary and getting some new projects off the ground. She is also looking forward to living close to the mountains and taking advantage of the great outdoor activities in and around Calgary!

Welcome, Erin!
