Mexico City: Past and Present

Students in HTST 410.02: Topics in Great Cities of the World learned about the pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern history of Mexico City during a group study program in May 2023

Dr. Amelia Kiddle led a group of 10 students to Mexico City this May for the Group Study Program Mexico City: Past and Present. Students enrolled in HTST 410.02, Topics in Great Cities of the World: Mexico City, and learned about the pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern history of this great city. Students are pictured here at Tlatelolco, the site of a pre-Hispanic market and city-state, the Ex-Colegio de Santa Cruz de Tlatelolco, the site of an earlier Franciscan school where Indigenous youth were educated in the sixteenth century, and the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, where the student massacre of 1968 occurred. The program received generous support from the Global Skills Opportunity Indigenous Skills Scholarship program.
