Three undergraduate students honored for their summer research work.

Avrille Aiello, Jaclyn Anderson and Julia Casorso were recipients of awards for their presentations in the 2020 Students’ Union Undergraduate Research Symposium.

We would like to congratulate three students from our department who received awards for their presentations in the 2020 Students’ Union Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS). URS is an opportunity for undergraduate students from all faculties to showcase their exceptional research alongside their peers to the broader campus community. This year, the conference was held virtually, and all participants submitted video presentations of their work.

Please join us in congratulating the amazing work done by all three of our award recipients! The great part of this symposium is that their presentations are available for anyone to watch - just click on the links below.

Avrille Aiello (Dr. Susanne Cote supervisor) received the SU Sustainability Fund Award for her presentation: “Reconstructing an ancient pond ecosystem using microfossils from the early Miocene of Uganda”.

Jaclyn Anderson (Dr. Amanda Melin supervisor) received the Faculty of Arts award for her presentation: “Window of Opportunity: sexual swellings as ovulatory signals in the olive baboon”.

Julia Casorso (Dr. Amanda Melin supervisor) received the Office of the Vice-President (Research) award for her presentation: “Primates and alcoholic fruits: The evolution of alcohol metabolism in the human lineage”.

I think we will be hearing more from these three as they progress in their careers! Great work!
