Arts and Science Honours Academy

The Arts and Science Honours Academy (ASHA) is a six-course interdisciplinary program that requires students to complete a second language and travel component through the four years of their degree. 25 students with outstanding records are admitted on a competitive basis annually.

Students bring to the program their wide-ranging disciplinary perspectives and professors offer courses informed by their own interdisciplinary interest and approaches. Students come to see the world and its problems from a global and multi-faceted perspective. 

Every student’s ASHA journey is unique in it’s own way. Having said that, the program is designed to be finished in four years following the trajectory given below:

Student Trajectory

Year 1

  • Complete ASHA 220
  • Think about going on exchange
  • Take 1 FCE of second language courses

Year 2

  • Complete ASHA 321 and ASHA 421
  • Apply for and plan a study abroad experience
  • Apply for Honours
  • Complete 1 FCE of second language courses if not already done 

Year 3

  • Travel abroad (Find out more at: ASHA Study Abroad)
  • 1 FCE of second language can be taken while abroad
  • Apply for Honours if you have not already

Year 4

  • Complete ASHA 501 and ASHA 503
  • Complete an Honours project
