International Society for the History and Philosophy of Science Teaching (IHPST) Summer School Experience

In conjunction with the Biennial Conference of the International Society for the History and Philosophy of Science Teaching (IHPST) Conference hosted this year at UCalgary, the conveners hosted an afternoon Summer School for Graduate Students and Trainees on July 3, 2022, featuring presentations on the usefulness of science education, integration of science education in natural history museum tours, the social epistemology of science, and the historical research and teaching of neuropsychiatry.

Student Joseph Bahhadi provided this personal report on the summer school proceedings: "When the summer school session was advertised to me by my supervisor, I was instantly eager to partake.  As someone who is sometimes intimidated by the social component of conferences, the structured aspect of the sessions helped ease my anxieties.  Recognizing a conference's effectiveness as a networking tool and the importance of networking to one’s (especially early) career, I am extremely grateful to have had taken part in the summer school sessions and to have exchanged ideas with so many bright individuals (from Sweden, Israel, Germany, and Canada)!  I applaud the event organizers for the inclusion of the thoughtfully inspired session.”
