Graduate training and development opportunities

We are committed to providing the all necessary learning and development opportunities to our students

  • Information sessions and workshops on library research, research and funding possibilities, methodologies and professionalization.

  • My Gradskills provides professional and academic development opportunities to give you the skills you need to succeed before and after graduation.

  • The Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning supports the teaching development of graduate students, the integration of technology to enhance teaching and learning, and scholarly approaches to teaching, course design and curriculum development. The institute also offers a Graduate Teaching Development Badge.

  • Consider taking courses thorough the Language Research Centre, e.g. LANG 599/605, Second Language Learning and Pedagogy.

  • The Werklund School of Education also offers useful courses (EDER 613: Change and Innovation in Education; EDER 667: Second Language Reading and Writing; EDER 669: Aspects of Second Language and Culture; EDER 696: Special Topics in Education), as well training sessions.

  • The Student Success Centre provides graduate writing workshops and a graduate coaching program.

  • Free professionalization workshops are also offered through MITACS.

Vox Condiscipulum

The Languages, Literatures and Cultures (LLAC) graduate students’ association, Vox Condiscipulum, aims to promote and support the intellectual, academic, cultural, and social interests of the graduate students in the LLAC Program in the School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures.

We also provide a platform for the new graduate students by hosting various events such as Vox Talks, research forums, and a literary circle.

Interlingua On-line Journal

Interlingua aims to provide an accessible platform for undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining experience in academic publishing.

Students of the Languages, Literatures and Cultures graduate program are pleased to announce that the student-run, peer-reviewed, digital journal Interlingua is back with a second edition, which is now available online. The journal proudly showcases the cross-cultural, cross-linguistic and investigative skills of students and welcomes papers in Arabic, Chinese, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish, covering a wide range of fields that includes Literature, Applied Linguistics, Film and Transcultural Studies.
