Biography
Caitlin is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. William Bridel in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Dr. Deinera Exner-Cortens in the HOPELab, Department of Psychology. Her research interests are topics of gender and sexual diversity, inclusion, movement cultures, developmental/social psychology, and creating educational tools for children and youth. Informed by a queer theoretical lens, Caitlin's doctoral studies will explore the use of educational tools to better understand how children construct gender, and to unpack how these constructions intersect with ideas about health and wellness in and beyond movement cultures. She also collaborates on projects related to youth suicide prevention, healthy relationship promotion, and masculinities. Additionally, Caitlin is an advocate for EDI, amplifying children's voices, and artistic expression in academic research.
