SCPA holds World Stage Design 2022

From August 6 - 16, the world’s largest international showcase of performance design and designers illuminates the University of Calgary and city of Calgary.

World Stage Design (WSD) is the first and only designer-based exhibition to showcase and celebrate performance design from individual designers. The fifth WSD exhibition will be welcoming several hundred artists, designers, technicians, and architects from around the world who practice, study and create performing arts events. There will be performances, exhibitions, and speakers sharing and celebrating Stage Design for 11 days.

WSD is comprised of four distinct components: International Design Exhibition and Competition, Scenofest, Theatre Architecture Competition (TAC), and Technical Invention Prize (TIP). The WSD international design exhibition is a competitive, international, juried event with prizes given to first, second, and third place winners in a variety of disciplines within emerging and professional categories. In addition to the four components of WSD, the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology annual trade show and conference, Rendez-vous, will be on the UCalgary campus.
