Funding
Financing grad school
Before starting your graduate program, make sure you understand your tuition and general fees, and learn which awards you are eligible for.
Masters students
MA and MMus students normally receive a minimum of $10,000 annually for the first two years of enrolment.
PhD students
Domestic students pursuing a PhD will receive Music Division funding in the first four years of their program in the amount of a minimum of $22,000 per year. International PhD students will receive a minimum of $24,000 for the first four years of their program.
Awards scholarships
The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) administers a wide variety of internal and external awards for graduate students.

Graduate assistantships (teaching/non-teaching)
- Graduate Assistantships (Teaching) assist with the instructional responsibilities of the division.
- Graduate Assistantships (Non-Teaching) assist the division and/or professors with non-teaching responsibilities (e.g., research for a faculty member, paid out of operating funds).
No more than the equivalent of twelve hours of work per week may be required of Graduate Assistants. Regulations governing terms of employment for Graduate Assistantships (Teaching, Non-Teaching) are covered by the below agreement.
