Shakespeare in Love Assistant Director Posting

We are looking for an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR to be part of this fall’s mainstage production, Shakespeare in Love.

We need someone who is excited and curious about learning the job of being a director through this supporting and critical role of Assistant Director. 

Our Assistant Director:

- will support the director in delivering their creative vision

- may facilitate parallel rehearsals or line runs when necessary

- is willing to be an extra set of eyes and ears in rehearsal and offer notes when requested

- may be responsible for liaising between different production departments

- may lead warm-ups with the company 

- can read in place for actors who aren’t present

- will attend all rehearsals, production, and planning meetings with the creative team 

- is willing to receive ongoing feedback about how they can be most effective in this position

Ideally, you will be a 3^rd or 4^th year (or higher) Drama student and have taken the Directing courses DRAM 413 or DRAM 511 though this is not a requirement.  

This position will be eligible for a practicum at the 393, 491 or 493 level.

Shakespeare in Love runs from November 24 to December 2, 2023 at the Reeve Theatre. 

Rehearsals begin October 3, Tuesdays to Fridays (6-10pm) and Saturdays (1-9pm).
