Biography

Dutch born flutist Lucie Jones (Batteké) is principal flute with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, an extra player with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 2004, a former member of Symphony Nova Scotia, a busy chamber musician, teacher, clinician, and adjudicator. Lucie is a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary and on faculty at the MRU Conservatory.

Lucie is a winner of the University of Calgary Concerto Competition, and a two-time winner of the National Flute Association International Performer's Competition. Lucie has been a featured performer with Calgary's Kensington Sinfonia, Mountain View Festival, the Instrumental Society of Calgary, the Red Deer Symphony Chamber Series, Land's End Ensemble, the Calgary Bach Society, Rosa Barocca, and a soloist with the Red Deer Symphony, the Calgary Philharmonic, and the Canadian University College Orchestras. As a member of the flute and harp Looking Glass Duo, Lucie has performed throughout Alberta and British Columbia and produced a CD, 20th Century Reflections.

Ms. Jones received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance from the University of Toronto, a Master of Music Degree in Performance, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Calgary where she is currently a PhD candidate in the Computational Media Design Program, with a WTEC specialization.
