UCalgary students

The Claim Your Seat program seeks to foster a greater appreciation of the arts and creative thinking in the student body, and encourages a greater sense of campus community and school spirit.
All UCalgary students can attend most on-campus Dance, Drama and Music events presented by the School of Creative and Performing Arts, for free!

The important small print for 2020-21

  1. There are no walk-ups at the door. You need a ticket before you come to campus.
  2. Tickets are not guaranteed. The availability of tickets depends on multiple factors, including audience capacity.
  3. If you have a course requirement to attend a specific event, the instructor can connect with UTS to discuss access to tickets prior to the event.
  4. The best chance for a seat is to submit your ticket request early, at least three business days before the event.

How does it work?

  1. Request a ticket online through the ticket request form and select Claim Your Seat as your ticket type. Don't forget to include your UCID.
  2. The booking administrator will connect with you within three business days to confirm seat availability and to request a signed COVID-19 waiverPlease note: one waiver per person, valid for all events in our facilities until Dec. 31, 2020.
  3. Once we have received the signed waiver, our booking administrator will contact you to confirm your ticket. You will receive an email confirmation with your ticket, that you can present to the usher the day of the event.

As a UCalgary employee, you receive 50% off regular admission of most dance, drama and music performances presented by the School of Creative and Performing Arts for yourself and one guest. This promotion is not valid for co-productions or events presented off-campus.

Theatre etiquette

  • No food or beverages in the venues, with the exception of bottled water.
  • Cell phones and other electronic devices can distract the performers and intrude on other patrons' enjoyment of the performance. Please ensure these devices will not ring, beep or vibrate during the performance.
  • Please do not talk or whisper during the performance. Our performance venues are designed to transmit sound, so even quiet noises can be intrusive to those around you.
  • Recording devices and cameras are not permitted.
  • If you have a complaint about another guest, please speak with a Front of House usher or manager rather than approaching the person yourself.
  • At the performance venues, please speak to our friendly Front of House staff, who will be glad to assist you. Our Front of House Manager welcomes your comments and will pass them along to the appropriate School of Creative and Performing Arts staff member.
