This fourth instalment in the Why Dance? research concert series will feature artists and audience and community in communion around the healing power of dance.

This evening will feature rhythm, groove and an oh so soulful cast.

The core artists include Michèle Moss, Tara Wilson, Caroline Fraser and ShoTyme as well as numerous students and youth in funky communion.

This event is funded by SCPA and CADA.

Dance@Noon presents the choreographic and directorial debut of our dance students in their third semester of composition, through the live performance of students at all levels in the dance program.

University of Calgary SCPA Dance - When Language Fails

Pro Series II | When Language Fails

JANUARY 21–22 • 7:30 PM • UNIVERSITY THEATRE

When Language Fails is a new duet work performed by powerhouse artists Marie France Forcier and Wojciech Mochniej. It poses the question of boundaries between “me” and “we”. The work explores how waves of political and socially defined identity can warp and distort the deep self, and how we might reconcile difference with an inclusive sense of identity.

Mainstage Dance presents the works of professional choreographers on auditionned students at all levels in the dance program. This year's choreographers are faculty members Marie France Forcier,  Wojciech Mochniej and Michèle Moss, alongside guest artist Christianne Ullmark.

Dance@Night presents the summative choreographic and directorial work of our senior Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance students, through the live performance of students at all levels in the dance program. In addition to these pieces, the Dance Division’s graduating BFA cohort will be performing a new choreographic work by Calgary-based multidisciplinary artist Jessica McMann.
