Art student among the 52 finalists of the Salt Spring National Art Prize
Congratulations to Lucas Hale, an International Indigenous Studies major in Department of Political Sciences with a Visual Studies & Art History Minor, who is among the 52 finalists of the 2021/2022 Salt Spring National Art Prize!
His work, “Skateboarding is Medicine”, uses traditional beading techniques to create contemporary skateboard graphic art, focusing on themes of healing and kinship, with imagery influenced by a Lenape creation story. Lucas is Lunaapeew from the Delaware Nation at Moraviantown (Eelūnaapèewii Lahkèewiit).
The Salt Spring National Art Prize Finalist Exhibition is to be held at Mahon Hall, Salt Spring Island, BC from September 24 - October 25, 2021.
