All external applications need faculty-level review and the signature of the Associate Dean Research.

Prepare your documents and submit them at least ten days before the Research Services deadline (unless otherwise stated).

Large competitions have separate timelines and submission processes.

  • Partnership Development and Partnership Grants

  • NSERC Discovery Grants and Research Tools and Instruments

  • CIHR Project and Foundation Grants

Research ethics board

UCalgary has two research ethics boards, three animal care committees, and a biosafety committee. All research, funded or unfunded, involving humans, animals or biohazards must first be reviewed by and receive approval from the appropriate board or committee before research can begin.
