Request for a Third Attempt

Students who have been unsuccessful in achieving at least a C- in a required course offered by the Faculty of Arts after two attempts may request permission to take the course a third and final time. 

Please note:

Students who do not a have realistic plan for success may be denied a third attempt.

Students who are denied or unable to succeed on their third attempt taking a required course will be required to change programs as they will no longer be able to progress in their current degree program.

This form is for courses offered by the Faculty of Arts.  If you are seeking a registration exemption for a course offered by another faculty (e.g., MATH 249 or STAT 213), please connect with the undergraduate advising office for the faculty offering the course for more information.

If you are a student from a program outside the Faculty of Arts, please ensure you have a note on file from your home faculty confirming this course is required prior to submitting the form.

Deadlines for submission:

  • Spring 2024: April 22
  • Summer 2024: June 17
  • Fall 2024: August 26
  • Winter 2025: January 1
