Call for Participants - Performance Experiments

Call for Participants

Participants are sought for performance experiments planned as part of a study to gain understanding about how audience immersion can impact the perception of medieval texts. There are no prerequisites for involvement, and participants with any level of experience with medieval literature—including none—are welcome.

Your participation will involve attending a 150-minute-long experiment, during which you will experience an immersive performance of a section of a medieval poem; you will also be asked to respond to a survey and participate in a focus group.

There is no compensation, financial or otherwise, for your participation in this study. However, your involvement will be valuable to the research and the data collected could lead to a better understanding of immersive performance studies.

The experiments are currently planned for October 13-15, 2021.

If you are interested in participating, please email tia.christoffersen@ucalgary.ca with the subject line “Immersive Performance Creation Study,” indicating your availability on the designated dates. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

The University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board has approved this study (REB21-1375).
