Dr. Derritt Mason

Dr. Derritt Mason’s areas of research include children’s and young adult literature, cultural studies, and gender and sexuality studies. Dr. Mason’s monograph, Queer Anxieties of Young Adult Literature and Culture (UP Mississippi, 2021), is a critical overview of queer representation in a range of adolescent media. Dr. Mason has also published articles and book chapters on topics including the history of queer picture books, horror themes in queer young adult literature, and the first-ever young adult book with visible gay content.
