Dr. Hanne Sigismund Nielsen

Dr. Hanne Sigismund Nielsen’s research as a classicist is entirely focused on the life and death of the lower classes in Roman society whether they are citizens, immigrants, or forced immigrants as slaves. Dr. Sigismund Nielsen has constructed databases of all readable inscriptions from the city of Rome and the Italian peninsula dating from late republic (50 BC) to around AD 500. The inscriptional material has made it possible to revise the traditionally held views of ancient historians and classicists.
