Wendi

Dr. Wendi Adamek’s main research area is medieval Chinese Buddhist practice-communities. Her award-winning first book, The Mystique of Transmission, explores an 8th-century Chan/Zen community in Sichuan. Her most recent work, Practicescapes and the Buddhists of Baoshan, is an in-depth study of a 6th century community and pioneers "the agency of relations" as an historiographical approach. Over the last decade she has been working with systems theory to write on topics in Buddhist economics, process-oriented epistemologies, cultivation of regenerative diversity (rather than commodified variety) and use of subjective accounts in academic research.
