Frequently asked questions

To refresh and reinvigorate the future of Arts at the University of Calgary.

Programs in the Department of Classics and Religion have seen changing levels of student interest in recent years.

This trend is not unique to UCalgary; it's part of a larger shift affecting similar programs across North America.

To address these changes, we are renewing the curriculum in the Faculty of Arts.

  • Our aim is to keep our programs relevant to students, employers, and communities in Alberta and beyond.
  • This will help us continue to positively impact our communities’ intellectual life and attract and retain top talent.

The future is innovative.

We are working to build a vibrant and sustainable future for classics and religion.

We believe these efforts will enhance our ability to support excellence in teaching, learning, and research. This renewal will help UCalgary stay at the forefront of these rapidly changing fields.

Consultation with students is at the heart of this process.

All current students in the program have been emailed an anonymous survey to provide their questions, concerns and feedback.

In-person consultation sessions are ongoing.

Faculty, staff, alumni and community partners will be invited to future consultation sessions.
