Honorary degree and OTUC recipients announced for June convocation
We are pleased to announce our honorary degree and Order of the University of Calgary recipients for June convocation ceremonies for the faculties of arts, business, education, engineering, environmental design, graduate studies, kinesiology, medicine, nursing, science and social work.
The honorary degree, the Doctor of Laws, is the University of Calgary’s highest academic honour bestowed upon individuals whose notable achievements and community service merit recognition. These distinguished individuals will address our graduating class during the June convocation ceremonies, sharing words of wisdom gained through years as leaders in their field.
Individuals who are recognized with The Order of The University of Calgary have a history of distinguished service to the university and are widely recognized as university champions and supporters.
George Roter, one of Canada’s leaders in the non-profit sector, believes that Canadians are passionate about driving social change. George co-founded Engineers Without Borders (EWB), a movement of engineers driven to create meaningful and lasting opportunities in Africa by tackling the root causes of poverty. Through the University of Calgary chapter of EWB, he has been a great mentor to our students, many of whom have held leadership posts in both EWB and other societies.
The Schulich School of Engineering and Faculty of Graduate Studies spring convocation will take place on Monday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m.
