Ordinary People (Like Me), Feb. 10 - May 22, 2022
The Department of Art and Art History's Professor Dr. Dona Schwartz's newest exhibition "Ordinary People (Like Me)" is now open at Contemporary Calgary, through May 22nd.
Public events will take place in the spring, delayed due to COVID. The calendar includes an exhibition walk through and discussion, a panel discussion, and a photo portrait workshop (dates TBC).
Dr. Schwartz also launched a companion project on Instagram that invites the public to contribute portraits of “ordinary people” along with a definition. People are encouraged to upload their own portraits and share with their networks. The portraits and definitions contribute to our understanding of the slippery concept, “ordinary”, that motivates this project. The Instagram contributions are also on display at Contemporary Calgary, along with 2 student photographers’ own take on the project.
