UCalgary History undergraduate students impress international delegates at the MAP Conference

Aurora Clark and Ryley Demchuk really made an impression at the Medieval Association of the Pacific conference in Banff on April 23-24

Two UCalgary History undergraduate students really made an impression last weekend at the Medieval Association of the Pacific conference in Banff. Aurora Clark and Ryley Demchuk worked together with the Nickle Gallery’s numismatist Marina Fischer to put together a display on our collection of medieval coinage. International delegates of the conference were impressed with the collection, and even more by Aurora and Ryley’s engagement and enthusiasm as they explained the development of portraiture on coins over 1000 years. The students selected the coins to show periods of Roman imitation through to late medieval innovation. Great work!
