UFlourish’s flagship event is back and better than ever! With a slough of interactive activities, games, snacks, prizes and more, this year’s Wellness Fair has something for everyone.

Hosted in MacEwan Hall A/B on Wednesday, October 16 from 11am – 1:30pm, the free event welcomes all students, faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars to drop by and build their wellness toolkits.

In addition to more than 30 vendor booths for you to connect with, including on-campus resources and off-campus groups like the Calgary Public Library and the Centre for Sexuality, this year’s fair also features a variety of interactive activity stations topped off with live music from CJSW.

Among the free swag and friendly faces, spread out throughout the space you’ll have chances to snuggle up with four-legged friends from PALS at the pet therapy station, create your own signature sugar scrub or bath bomb using essential oils, get in the spirit of sustainability by building a drawstring bag out of a t-shirt to fill with snacks, try your hand at tea making, or check out fun-tossing games and a prize wheel.

“Wellness is about balancing multiple areas of our life. It includes physical and emotional wellbeing, but also means looking after your social relationships, financial wellness and career balance."

“Wellness is about balancing multiple areas of our life. It includes physical and emotional wellbeing, but also means looking after your social relationships, financial wellness and career balance,” says Russell Thomson, health promotion coordinator with Student Wellness Services and co-chair of UFlourish.

“People have a notion that they have to stay a long time, but the Wellness Fair is a space that’s designed to be able to check things out quickly while having a snack and seeing what’s going on around campus. We also have music this year so you can expect an upbeat, lively atmosphere!”

“Another exciting addition this year is the Community Kitchen with their Good Food Box program. Many people don’t know that they have a depot conveniently located on campus where you can place an order for fresh fruits and vegetables at a low cost,” adds Nanako Furuyama, coordinator of the Women’s Resource Centre and Wellness Fair organizer.

To make the deal even sweeter, everyone who attends will be entered a draw for door prizes, including two 30-minute massages from the Wellness Centre, a UCalgary hoodie, and an Active Living membership for faculty and staff.

Gold-certified sustainable event

In alignment with the university’s commitment to sustainability, the Wellness Fair has also achieved a gold-level certification from the Office of Sustainability, the highest level of recognition awarded to events achieving greater than 85% of possible sustainability measures.

Check out the UFlourish webpage for the full schedule of Wellness Fair activities happening from 11am – 1:30pm on Oct. 16 and find more ways to get involved all week long.
